In Super Mario Wars between 2 and 4 players are permitted, controlled by the user, or by the CPU or by other users. The goal is to fight your way to the finish by stomping other players, using familiar Super Mario powerups and out maneuvering your opponents. The game also includes a campaign mode that has an overworld exactly similar to that of Super Mario Bros. 3. However, instead of levels the player simply fights more of the characters featured in the game.
